My name is Ryan Kembrey. I am a final semester mechanical engineering student at the University of Technology Sydney. Currently I am working as a product design engineer at Inventor Group, where I lead and assist development of emerging products in a variety of markets.
Prior to my time at Inventor Group, I worked as a production engineer intern at Xero Linear Lighting Systems. This experience taught me a lot about how designs get manufactured, as I worked both in the in-house manufacturing team, and the engineering department creating drawings.
Recently I completed my capstone project, which was the creation of a design for manufacturing (DFM) workbench for FreeCAD. Engaging in this project developed my expertise in areas that university had not covered, such as the DFM rules that manufacturers look for when assessing whether a part can be made with a certain process.
I am very passionate about my chosen career, and you will often find me learning new skills to apply or volunteering as a developer of the technical drawing workbench with FreeCAD.
